Man it's great to see a Razorback football player garner all the recognition that Darren McFadden is getting this pre-season. For the second time in less than a week, he's featured on the cover of a national publication. After appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated earlier this week, our tailback is featured on the current edition of ESPN The Magazine.
It's is one of three regional covers for the publication’s college football preview. Louisville’s Brian Brohm, Harry Douglas and Mario Urrutia are one of the other regional covers while California’s DeShaun Jackson is featured on the third cover. The jerk-asses at their subscription department actually sent me the Louisville cover. Hello? I LIVE in Arkansas?!!? Needless to say a call was made and a new issue is on the way.

I haven't read the ESPN article yet, but the SI article is great and shows McFadden in a very good light. He's a very funny and entertaining kid. I hope he's as entertaining on the field in a couple of weeks... but I have complete faith he will be. It is tough though to be such a target all year. After finishing 2nd in Heisman voting last year, he'll be a marked man for sure.
Why him? Well, in the mold of football great Eric Dickerson, he's quick as a hiccup yet still strong as a bull. He lined up at wide-out, quarterback and tailback last season in addition to kickoff returns. He had 1,113 rushing yards with 11 TDs his freshman year and followed that up last year with 1,647 rushing yards with 14 TDs. Oh yeah, he also passed for 3 touchdowns, caught 1 touchdown and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. He was rewarded by becoming the first sophomore ever to win the Doak Walker Award for being the nation's best running back.
In short, he's a stud.
