Info Post

In the tradition of Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees... the next great psycho horror slasher has given a documentary crew exclusive access to his life as he plans his reign of terror over the sleepy town of Glen Echo, all the while deconstructing the conventions and archetypes of the horror genre for them.

An extremely clever film that's part comedy/part horror. It switches back-and-forth between "documentary" (complete with shaky handheld cameras) and "regular cinema". It stars with Leslie leading a documentary film crew around, showing them his secrets as a slasher while exposing all sorts of slasher film cliches, then switches to more of a cinema-style as the plan unfolds.

Yeah, it's been done before with the Scream films and even Man Bites Dog (for you fellow horror fans), but there's a lot to like here. Never really laugh out loud funny, but very dry humor ala maybe Spinal Tap. Nathan Baesel is fantastic as Vernon, the only character that really stands out in the cast of relatively unknowns.

For an indie film, this movie blows away most of the big screen releases nowadays. If you enjoy clever horror movies laced with humor, you're gonna love this. I did.

8/10
