Lots of good movies set to come out in the next few months, long before the big Summer blockbuster season. Here's my 10 most anticipated films in the next several months.
1. Cloverfield (Jan 18th) - A group of Manhattanites document a monster's attack of their city, from director J.J. Abrams (Lost).
2. I Am Legend (Dec 14th) - Robert Neville (Will Smith) finds himself the only healthy survivor of a biological attack, as his fellow New Yorkers have become zombies. By day, Neville hunts the undead who walk the streets; by night, he barricades himself in his home against the mob gathered outside.
3. National Treasure: Book of Secrets (Dec 21st) - Tracking down the missing pages of John Wilkes Booth's diary is the first step in treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates's (Nic Cage) plan to uncover a worldwide conspiracy.
4. Rambo (Jan 25th) - In Thailand, John Rambo (Sly Stallone) assembles a group of mercenaries and leads them up the Salween River to a Burmese village after hearing that a group of aid workers he assisted have gone missing.
5. Alien vs Predator: Requiem (Dec 25) - Warring alien and predator races descend on a small town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival.
6. Jumper (Feb 14th) - Once David Rice (Hayden Christensen) discovers he has the power to teleport from one place to another, he uses his ability to search for the man he believes is responsible for the death of his mother.
7. The Spiderwick Chronicles (Feb 15th) - Upon moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother, twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other creatures.
8. The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (Dec 28th) - A lonely boy discovers a mysterious egg that hatches a sea creature of Scottish legend... the Loch Ness Monster.
9. The Golden Compass (Dec 7th) - In a parallel universe, a young girl journeys to the far North to save her best friend whom she fears has been kidnapped by a powerful and secret organization. Based on Philip Pullman's fantasy trilogy. The studio has just optioned the other two books, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.
10. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (Dec 21st) - A mockumentary look at the life of fictional music legend Dewy Cox (John C. Reilly) and his turbulent, "Behind the Music"-like career.
In addition to Cloverfield, AVP: Requiem and I Am Legend, which are technically horror movies, here's some more of the upcoming horror movies that I'm interested in:
The Orphanage (Dec 28th) - Laura returns with her husband Carlos and Simon, their 7-year-old son, to the ophanage she was raised in with a dream of restoring and reopening the long abandoned orphanage as a home for disabled children. But strange things begin to happen.
One Missed Call (Jan 4th) - A chain of people receive terrifying cell phone messages of their own final fatal moments. Though the messages can be deleted, their number is up.
Untraceable (Jan 25th) - FBI agent Jennifer Marsh is tasked with hunting down a serial killer who posts images of his victims on the website killwithme.com. The more viewers that go to the website determine how fast the person posted on there is going to die.
The Eye (Feb 1st) - The remake of the Hong Kong film "Jian Gui", a woman (Jessica Alba) who receives an eye transplant that allows her to see into the supernatural world.
Diary of the Dead (Feb 15th) - George Romero's latest zombie opus, telling the story of a group of student filmmakers who document their deadly encounters with ravenous flesh-eaters just as the world is first plunged into chaos.
