Info Post
Six months after the rage virus was inflicted on the population of Great Britain, the US Army helps to secure a small area of London for the survivors to repopulate and start again. But not everything goes to plan.

I thought the first movie in this series, 28 Days Later, was a fun "zombie" flick in that it was fairly original and spooky. What I thought it lacked for the most part though was action. This sequel has all the action you could want, and then some. I liked the first movie, I loved this one. Lots of fast editing and use of a handy cam make it feel like you're right there in on the action with them (usually too close). Plenty of scares and plenty of gore keep the pace (and pulse) racing. It start chaotic and revisits that often.

Questions: Is an apocalyptic zombie fest really all that original? Not at all. Does this movie really make any sort of statement? Maybe to avoid zombies. And yes, I've heard the comparisions to modern-day Iraq alluded to, but I think that's overthinking this film a bit. Should zombies run fast or did Romero have it right with the slow moving zombies that could be outrun by coma patients? Well, the speed and agression of which these guys get after people makes me think the former. Fast zombies are scary as all hell. Slow zombies are sort of cute.

What I didn't like about the movie was that the fact that the kids sneak out to the infected area with ease, few precautions seems to be taken when they find someone who might be infected, and then this mysterious women is just left unguarded and unwatched, allowing the virus to spread. Also, I didn't like how the father, when he was a "zombie", still seemed to have an agenda. I was under the impression that once you were turned you just went sort of batsquat crazy.

In summary: this film is creepy, brutal, fast-paced and has buckets of blood. You know if that's your thing or not I guess. It's definitely mine. If you've had your fill of eye-gouging and blood puking, you might want to skip this.

Step 1: Kill the infected.
Step 2: Containment.
If containment fails, then Step 3: Extermination

8/10
