Info Post

Remy is a rat, constantly risking life in an expensive French restaurant because of his love of good food, as well as a desire to become a chef. Opportunity knocks when a young boy, who desperately needs to keep his job at the restaurant, despite his lack of cooking abilities, discovers and partners the young Remy.

This movie looks so good sometimes I got distracted by the visuals. The water and fur and all the things they really used to have trouble animating just look fantastic. You'd be very hard pressed to find a better looking CGI film I'd say.

But as usual with the Pixar/Disney collaborations (Toy Story 1 & 2, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc.) the difference is in the story. Lots of these companies are churning out good looking animated films but most just don't have the depth like they produce. They tell good stories while at the same time pleasing the kids with slapstick humor and silliness. And they do it brilliantly.

On the negative side, the big groups of rats creeped me out a bit. And the thoughts of rats running all over the kitchen handling the food isn't something I really care to think about, reguardless of whether they wash their little grubby hands or not. But it's hard to find much else wrong here.

The difference in this movie and many animated efforts of late is that it lacks all the little pop culture references that so many have made their staple lately. It's really just a good story, well told, with a lot of laughs and action paced throughout. Great film for adults to take their kids to and both leave the theater happy.

Simply put, Pixar does it again.
